Charities of Choice is how we support local charities in some of
our key countries. It’s an important part of our corporate social
responsibility stream.
The charities we work with have a close alignment with our
business and what we do. Their work is also about changing people’s
lives for the better; giving people the opportunity to learn,
develop and succeed in the workplace. This shared purpose means we
can really add value to their work. It also means that working with
them builds our skills and makes us better at what we do.
Working with our charities of choice can give us a greater sense
of fulfilment; a sense of purpose and achievement. It helps us
learn how to build relationships on a different level. To share
knowledge with others outside AMS and work towards a goal that
benefits the whole community, not just our company or us as
individuals.
Giving a hand up, rather than a hand out
Since 2005, our UK charity of choice has been Tomorrow’s People.
We started with a focus on fundraising, and this year we've raised
£20,000 through our Three Peaks Challenge. Our relationship
has also developed beyond raising money. We now have a strategic
partnership with shared objectives, and we work closely together to
achieve these.
Next year we’ll be supporting Tomorrow’s People with a new
programme, “Getting People Back to Work”. This is a programme of
skills development and work experience, focused on supporting
successful individuals into full-time paid employment.
Volunteers from around our business will be accredited through
our learning and development process to
deliver a series of workshops on“work ready” skills. This gives our
people a fantastic chance to develop their own skills in
presentation, training and mentoring, at the same time as helping a
fantastic cause.
After attending our skills workshops, clients of Tomorrow’s
People’s will be able to go on a work experience programme with AMS
or one of our clients.
