Global Citizenship is how we give something back. It's
about more than just doing what we have to to do the right
thing, it's about making sure we’re a responsible part of our
global communities, and giving our people the chance to get
involved. To do something different, and to make it count.
For us, global citizenship is about being
responsible in the way we manage our impact on our communities and
the environment. It’s about more than just donating money to
charitable causes. It’s about the integrity with which we
govern our business, the values we have and what we stand for. Only
by working closely with all our stakeholders can we understand the
challenges that we face, respond positively and make a genuine
difference.
Our global citizenship programme has a number
of streams; areas that we think are most important for us to focus
on immediately. We own these as a business, and everyone has their
role to play. Whether it’s joining our Global Three Peaks Challenge
team to trek up mountains, showcasing your unique talents to raise
money for our charities of choice, or
thinking of ways to reduce our environmental
footprint, we're supported to make a difference.
We take our corporate social responsibilities
seriously, and we don’t believe it’s something that companies
should stand still on; we know that we can always do more. We’re
constantly looking at new and different ways to make sure that our
people can become proactive global citizens who have a positive
impact on the world around them.
In 2007, we signed up as a participant to the
UN Global Compact, formalising our commitment to being a
globally responsible organisation. Since then, we've released
two Communications on Progress, both of which are
available here.
